Most bloggers are young, thin, white and able bodied and treat their privilege as invisible. It's painfully apparent that many don't think about people who are disenfranchised by fashion, and indeed popular white culture. That's why it's been so fantastic to find your blog!Nataliehttp://www.definatalie.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10736511.post-57477461263416537182010-10-06T04:13:13.981+11:002010-10-06T04:13:13.981+11:00I agree with your thoughts here.
And I'll add...I agree with your thoughts here.

And I'll add - one of the most annoying fashion clichés for me is when they put animal prints on models of color, as if that were clever. There's lots I find distasteful about animal prints on women anyway, but that one is especially grating.

I'll also note that, as a very pale person, what others call "nude" also doesn't work on me! From band-aids to shoes to lipstick, most of it is too dark to match. (The right tone of makeup foundation is a tough one for me also.) So I too do not experience "nude" the way it's ostensibly meant. That's ok though...because I really don't care for flesh tones in clothes.

Finally, I too have been really annoyed lately precisely about the fashion naiveté around politics, specifically regarding the "military inspired" thing. I mean really...WTF. Why glorify old uniform styles (...AGAIN)? Look at the world we're in now (as ever, I suppose) - why in hell should women be sporting military styles? It's bafflingly random and irrelevant, especially as belligerent ways of dealing with life are increasingly seen as retrograde. I for one will NOT be wearing anything that mindless.Someonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02838137079793727908noreply@blogger.com
